What:
- settle by 20/40 normally
- not generally associated w/complications
- 80-85% of pregnancies
Not:
- only in the morning -18% morning only
- Hyperemesis Gravidarum - excessive vomiting - imbalance - REFER
- food poisoning, diet, pre-existing, pre-eclampsia
- more severe (ie. sepsis, pyelonephritis, viral illness)
Why/How:
- not known
- rise in hCG hypothesised - placenta - bigger more
Advice:
- what have you tried?
- smaller more frequent meals
- bland food
- cord;, juice, icy poles, jelly, soda water
- rising slowly - avoiding sudden movements
- ginger
- discontinuing multi-vitamins
- drink more fluids to increase hydration
- watch for weight loss & lethargy
- check babies size
- Vit. B6
- Acupressure
- antihistamines
